Garden Walk 2014

The 11th annual Lancaster Garden Walk will be held Saturday and Sunday, July 19th and 20th from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. With some gardens open during a special night garden walk held on Friday, July 18 from 8:45 to 11 p.m.

For the past 10 years, Lancaster gardeners have been opening their gardens to the public for this free event, which always takes place the third week of July.

This year we have 51 gardens on the Lancaster Garden Walk. And each one is as unique as their owners. Some are big and some are small but all are worth your time and effort to go see.

This past winter was long and hard, but our gardeners have not let that stop them from working many hours to get their gardens in shape for your to see. They have been planting, weeding, and using their creative ideas to bring together the most wonderful set of gardens yet.

From the Japanese inspired gardens with Koi ponds, to country loving flower filled wagons, there is something for the garden enthusiast in all of us. Even if you have been on the walk in previous years, you will find new and exciting things to inspire you.

As American botanist, horticulturist and pioneer in agricultural science, Luther Burbank once said, "Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul."

Garden Varities

Just like their owners, every garden is sure to be unique.

The gardens in Lancaster vary as much as the people who grow them. Some are built with a variety of beautiful flowers, grasses and trees, yet others incorporate a cultural influence, such as a Japanese style and will include a Koi pond or a tea house. Others, like the ones to the left and below include whimsical garden pieces. Every garden on the tour is unique.
